Community Food Share
The Community Food share is open every Tuesday morning, 11am-12pm . No referral needed, no questions asked. You are welcome here.
We love working in partnership with friends in our local community to make The Community Food Share happen.
The Community Food Share operates on sharing principles. Food is sourced in numerous ways, we have a longstanding relationship with The Felix Project who deliver weekly crates of good quality fresh foods that would have otherwise gone to landfill, not only a horrific waste but also have detrimental impacts on the environment. Non-perishable foods are sourced through donations from the local community and local businesses providing their surplus stock and generous gifts.
The Food Share connects with the community in two fundamental ways, to eliminate food waste and to alleviate food poverty. Our friends and neighbours who attend are not purely receivers, they are activists involved in changing our attitude to food waste and the impact on the environment. They are sharing their stories to powerfully change the narrative around food waste and raise its profile and injustice.
The Food Share is run purely by local volunteers, their wisdom and relationship with our local community guide the Food Share to continuously be evaluating our processes and aims.
